Little girl birthday parties are some of my favorite events to plan and attend. Part of my birthday party love stems from memories of my own birthday parties growing up. It’s your special day, the one day of the year that revolves around you. For me, it’s the little things that make a birthday special.
Whether you spend your day with the entire neighborhood, or just close friends and family, a birthday should be memorable and special. These party themes just exude joy and are sure to bring a smile to the little girl in your life.
Moana: Usually, the latest Disney craze is always a popular party themes for years afterward and Moana is no exception. The best part about a Moana theme is that you can use popular Luau elements and spice them up a bit to add a Moana spin. Water games work great for this theme, as well as any island type food.
Mermaid: Mermaids are always a big hit with girls of all ages. A mermaid party, or Under the Sea theme is simple, classic, and a definite crowd pleaser and how cute are these mermaid towels?! If you don’t have a pool, visit the local city pool for a fun trip! Classic games with a spin, such as pin the tail on the mermaid, walk the plank or a water balloon toss would entertain these cute girls!
Classic games with a spin, such as pin the tail on the mermaid, walk the plank or a water balloon toss would entertain these cute girls! This mom has great food ideas for your mermaid party, drift wood (pretzels), blue jello fish bowls, clams (vanilla wafer cookies), jelly fish eggs (jelly beans) and gold fish crackers!
Trolls: Turn the music up and rock out with the Trolls. I absolutely love the hair band ideas. There are so many creative option to make this party fun for everyone. Rent or purchase a cotton candy machine for edible hair as well. Of course you will have to have a balloon hugging competition as well!
Spa: For sophisticated tweens, a spa party is a great idea. It gives girls a little taste of grown up luxuries like pedicures and facials. Of course, all girls love nail polish, but a spa party takes pampering to the next level.
Cake wars: Most girls love cooking or at least eating sweets! Host a cake wars party for budding chefs. Blind tasting games, cracking eggs race, and balancing an egg on a spoon are simple but fun games. Girls can then decorate their own cakes to take home. Sign me up!
Unicorn: Unicorns have always been a hit with little girls, but now Unicorn trends are everywhere for kids of all ages. From unicorn hair to unicorn cakes, clothing, and décor, create a fantasy world for your little ones with a unicorn party. A face painting station is so much fun at this type of party, as well as any thing with rainbows.
Emoji Party: If your little girl is asking/begging to use your cell phone (or get her own) on a near-constant basis, consider an Emoji party. These fun emoji’s represent an array of emotions and are so fun to celebrate the tween girls who can’t get enough selfies. Host a photo scavenger hunt, a photo booth and a station to decorate their own frame to put this party at the top!
Art Party: For a budding artist, consider an art party where everyone can come and tap into their inner creative side. Provide paints, smocks, colorful food and let the fun begin. This is the simplest party idea, but my kids personal favorite. Have plenty of watercolor paper on hand for them to create as many masterpieces as they’d like. Making their own jewelry and decorating their own sugar cookies or cupcakes are also great activities for this theme.
Tea Party: This is perhaps my all-time favorite party idea for little girls. Bring their world of make believe to reality with a larger than life tea party fit for a princess. Doll the girls up beforehand with crowns, jewels and nail polish. Then have a dad be the waiter to make these girls even more special.
Glow in the Dark: This is a unique party idea that would work for boys or girls but I especially love it for girls who love bright, bold, neon colors. Make the entire party glow with a glow in the dark theme to light up their day!
